Natural Dyeing Workshop with Anna Greenwood
Join spinning and dyeing specialist Anna Greenwood for a fun and hands on natural dyeing workshop at Studio 6, Pateley Makers Yard. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to use plants and natural materials to create magical and unique hues, as you dye skeins of wool under Anna’s expert guidance.
This class is beginner friendly, and also suitable for those with some background knowledge of spinning and dyeing. Anna will talk you through the foundations of natural dyeing, including natural chemistry, creating dyebaths, and using mordants (natural colour stabilisers) to impact the shades achieved. From onion skins to rhubarb leaves, household ingredients and a little chemical magic, you’ll create your own natural dye colour card, building a palette of dyed shades from the skeins created in the workshop..
You'll finish the class with new skills, newfound confidence, and a beautiful colour card to continue your natural dyeing journey at home. This class is great for beginners or those looking for a new creative outlet, designed for anyone wanting to a new medium in a friendly and welcoming environment.
No prior experience is necessary - just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!
